We are happy that you are open to using your skills and abilities to further the mission of Rexdale Alliance Church—to lead people to Jesus and assist them in becoming His committed followers. Our volunteer program is designed to help us fulfill that purpose!

AREAS OF NEEDS

Family (Children) Ministry

Children or Family Ministries (FM) seeks to develop spiritual champions and helps children build deep and lasting relationships with God.

Lead: Jessica Nguyen

  • If you are someone who:

    • Loves Jesus

    • Loves babies (0-18 months)

    • Enjoys cuddling, singing, reading with babies

    • Owns comforting hands and voice to crying babies

    • Loves connecting with parents and nursery team

    What you are committing to:

    • Available on rotation every 4-6 weeks

    • Be in the nursery 15 min before service to receive babies

    • Caring about the babies – singing, reading, cuddling.

    • Connecting and supporting parents during service time

    • To be part of a nursery team who works together

    • Praying for babies and families

    You might be a great fit if you have any of the following spiritual gifts:

    • Faith, helps, hospitality, intercession, mercy, service, wisdom, shepherd, teaching

  • If you are someone who:

    • Loves Jesus

    • Loves to Children/tweens/teens

    • Creativity: Can have fun and a good time (singing, games, craft)

    • Enjoys interacting with kids

    • Invests in the lives of children

    What you are committing to:

    • Available every other Sunday on a rotational base (Sept-June)

    • Be prepped to teach your lesson

    • To be part of a specific grades team

    • Be in your assigned classroom at minimum 15min prior to received kids

    • Help/support parents to raise spiritual champions

    • Caring about the kids – asking them about friends, school, sports, hobbies, favorite music, family struggles, etc.

    • Pray regularly for the kids

    • Participate in Teachers Meetings

    • To be part of a team with other worship team or Sunday School teachers

    • Setup 30min prior to the start of Sunday School

    • Caring about the kids – asking them about friends, school, sports, hobbies, favorite music, family struggles, etc.

    • Pray regularly for the kids

    • Participate in Team Meetings

    • Be present 30 min prior to service at the station to welcome all

    • Support at the station (upstairs and/or downstairs)

    • Help/support parents to raise spiritual champions

    • Pray regularly for the kids

    • Print and deliver attendance reports to all classes

    • Shut down stations at 10:30

    • Directing the crowd

Rex Youth

Rex Youth seeks to be a safe place for teens to come they are. Our Youth Ministry is committed to discipling teenagers between grade 6-12 through regular Friday nights activities and external events such as annual retreats.

Lead: Paul Buchan

  • If you are someone who:

    • Enjoys working with youth

    • Can have fun and a good time

    • Able to be a good listener

    • Cares about today’s youth who are tomorrow’s leaders, and can laugh at youthful mistakes instead of judging

    What you are committing to:

    • Available the 2nd and 4th Friday of the month from 6:30-9:30pm (pilot for 3rd Friday monthly now starting for High School students only program)

    • 3-4 Leaders team meetings each ministry year (in-person or zoom)

    • Caring about the teens – asking them about friends, school, sports, hobbies, favourite music, family struggles, etc.

    • Wish them well, and show it practically

    • Be for them

    • Abide by ALL SafeChurch requirements

    • Hanging out with youth (building relationship, participating in camp activities) 

    • Basically, having fun and worshipping Jesus together 🙂

Young Adults

The Rexdale Young Adults (RYA) seeks out community, relationship, and growth rooted in Jesus by connecting weekly for conversation that explores following Jesus, spiritual practices, and living as a Jesus-follower amidst adversity.

Lead: Pastor Dan Ryan

  • If you are someone who is:

    • A young adult or someone with a heart for young adult mentorship 

    • Inclined to lead, support others leading, or complete administrative tasks

    • Willing to grow in your faith and leadership abilities

    • Open to deep conversations and exploring faith, spirituality, theology

    What are you committing to?

    • Fostering community, relationship, and spiritual growth amongst our young adults

    • Helping design the content and rhythms of young adult gatherings

    • Helping lead informal weekly gatherings and larger social events periodically

    • Regular meetings with young adult leadership team to prepare for upcoming gatherings

    • Completing ministry application and vulnerable sector police check

    You might be a great fit if you have any of the following spiritual gifts:

Adult Ministries

The Adults Ministries serve the men and women in our congregation through a variety of spiritual formation opportunities and join them on their faith journey as they grow in their relationship with God and one another.

Lead: Pastor Cheryl Guinness

  • If you are someone who:

    • Desires to come alongside others’ spiritual journeys and encourage growth & commitment

    • Is growing in relationship with Jesus and healthy relationships with others

    • Has past small group leadership or other leadership experience would be an asset, but not necessary

    What you are committing to:

    • Attend provided Life Group Leader Trainings (1 class initially with further opportunities)

    • Provide facilitation and spiritual leadership to a small group of 4-10

    • Available for bi-weekly or monthly groups meetings between September to June

  • If you are someone who:

    • Is growing in relationship with Jesus and healthy relationships with others

    • Has any past leadership experience would be an asset

    • Desires to come alongside other believers to help establish a strong foundation to their faith journey

    What you are committing to:

    • Willingness to attend provided training (1 class)

    • Provide facilitation and spiritual leadership to a small group of 3-6

    • Available for 8 Mondays from September to November (begins Sept. 23)

  • If you are someone who:

    • Is growing in relationship with Jesus and has healthy relationships with others

    • Have completed the Alpha course would be an asset, but not necessary

    • Possess a joyful curiosity in engaging in conversations with those outside or new to the faith!

    What you are committing to:

    • Willingness to attend provided training (1 class)

    • Creatively engage with those outside or new to the faith to host a small group using the Alpha materials in a home, local restaurant or other desired location

Prayer

One of our core church values is prayerfulness. The Prayer Team provides opportunities for RAC to engage in prayer for our communities through various events, such as weekly corporate prayer or our annual Call to Prayer.

Lead: Pastor Cheryl Guinness

  • If you are someone who is:

    • Able to work collaboratively with a team

    • Growing in relationship with Jesus and healthy relationships with others

    • Familiar with creating a PowerPoint an asset, although not necessary

    • Passionate about prayer!

    What you are committing to:

    • Joining the Tuesday Prayer Team

    • Creatively provide a prayer opportunity once a month for RAC to engage in prayer for our local neighbourhood needs & outreach (facilitating online, providing prayer walks in the neighbourhood, etc.) Coaching provided!

Neighborhood Connections Church (NCC)

NCC is a unique worship experience for people from the community who don't generally attend church and feel more comfortable in a relaxed setting outside a sanctuary. It offers hot lunch and food bank service every Tuesday.

Lead: Pastor Paul LaRocque

  • If you are someone who:

    • Loves serving others

    • Loves being part of a great team

    • Cares for the least of those among us (Mt. 25)

    What you are committing to:

    • Must be available Tuesday mornings until 1PM (starting at 8AM if possible)

    • Willing to serve in one or more of a variety of tasks:

      • Sorting the food donations 

      • Setting up tables for lunch and serving the food

      • Tidying up lunchroom and kitchen afterwards

      • Socializing with our guests

Music (Worship)

The Music Team seeks to be worshippers who lead others in worship. They work to prepare our worship services, striving to make music with excellence while helping others grow in their gifting and leading songs that glorify God.

Lead: Pastor Dan Ryan

  • If you are someone who is:

    • A Jesus-lover and worshipper

    • Musically capable or knowledgeable

    • Willing to grow in music and worship abilities

    • Open to new worship expressions

    What you are committing to:

    • Leading others in worship, maintaining your own spiritual health to do so

    • Thursday rehearsal evening from 7-9pm, arriving early to get setup

    • Sunday morning rehearsal and service from 8:30-11:30am, plus setup and teardown

    • Ideally, volunteer at least one week a month on same team (four-week rotation), but currently need musicians that can play two weeks a month (bi-weekly)

    • Completing ministry application and vulnerable sector police check

    You might be a great fit if you have any of the following spiritual gifts:

    • Discernment, faith, service, artistry, leadership, shepherd, teaching, tongues

    What you need to get started:

    • Conversation and informal audition with worship pastor

    • Complete application, including form and vulnerable sector police check

    • Additional training required for leaders related to minors and vulnerable adults

  • If you are someone who is:

    • A Jesus-lover and worshipper

    • Supportive of music and worship community

    What you are committing to:

    • Completing administrative tasks related to screening volunteers, communicating with team members, and/or preparing music notation

    • Weekly, monthly, or periodic schedule

    • Completing ministry application and vulnerable sector police check

    You might be a great fit if you have any of the following spiritual gifts:

    • Discernment, faith, service, administration

    What you need to get started:

    • Conversation and informal audition with worship pastor

    • Complete application, including form and vulnerable sector police check

    • Additional training required for leaders related to minors and vulnerable adults

Tech & Production

As a vital part of our worship ministry, the Tech Team works behind the scenes to produce worship services in such a way that our presentation is enhanced and all distractions minimized. They work in the areas of audio, visual, lighting, video, and broadcast.

Lead: Pastor Dan Ryan

  • If you are someone who is:

    • Design-minded and appreciates making things look pretty (design-minded)

    • Passionate about helping others engage with the worship service

    • A supportive team player who enjoys working in the background

    • A problem-solver who's somewhat calm and collected, able to work under pressure

    • Somewhat detail-oriented and audience-centred

    • Willing to learn (it helps if you're tech-savvy)

    • Interested in working with professional equipment and software

    • Flexible and adaptable to changes

    What are you committing to:

    • Available on rotation every 2-3 weeks

    • Thursday evening rehearsals from 7-9pm, arriving in time to prepare

    • Sunday morning rehearsals from 8:30-10am (arriving beforehand for setup), services from 10-11:30am, and post-service teardown

    • Orientation and training over the span of several rehearsals and Sunday services

    • Being attentive during rehearsals and services, making necessary changes

    • Being gentle with and caring for the equipment

    • Completing Ministry Application and Vulnerable Sector Police Check

    You might be a great fit if you have any of the following spiritual gifts:

    • Service, artistry, administration, evangelism wisdom, and discernment

  • If you are someone who is:

    • Experienced with or interested in video production (filming and editing) is a plus

    • Able to give clear instruction and/or follow direction

    • Able to react in the moment

    • A supportive team player who enjoys working in the background

    • A problem-solver who's somewhat calm and collected, able to work under pressure

    • Somewhat detail-oriented and audience-centred

    • Willing to learn (it helps if you're tech-savvy)

    • Interested in working with professional equipment and software

    • Flexible and adaptable to changes

    What are you committing to:

    • Available on rotation every 2-3 weeks

    • Thursday evening rehearsals from 7-9pm, arriving in time to prepare

    • Sunday morning:

      • Arrive before 9:30am to setup cameras and complete system checks

      • Attend service briefing at 9:30am

      • Post-service teardown, includes putting away the cameras

      Orientation and training over the span of several rehearsals and Sunday services

    • Being attentive during rehearsals and services, making necessary changes

    • Being gentle with and caring for the equipment

    • Completing Ministry Application and Vulnerable Sector Police Check

    You might be a great fit if you have any of the following spiritual gifts:

    • Service, artistry, administration, evangelism wisdom, and discernment

  • If you are someone who is:

    • Trained or has some experience with music/sound technology

    • Experienced working with musicians is a plus

    • Able to give clear instruction and/or follow direction

    • Able to react in the moment

    • A supportive team player who enjoys working in the background

    • Somewhat detail-oriented and audience-centred

Office

From welcoming visitors into the building, to a variety of administrative tasks, the office volunteer supports RAC’s mission by assisting with our day-to-day operations.

Lead: Marilyn Spagnolo

  • If you are someone who is:

    • A friendly, team player, able to work independently

    • A Good Communicator 

    • Supportive of RAC's Mission/Vision/Values

    • Familiar with basic computer knowledge in Microsoft Office

    What you are committing to:

    • Available one day a week during office hours 9am-5pm between Monday to Thursday

    • Assisting in reception duties (answering phone/door/email, collecting mail)

    • Assisting with office maintenance (water plants, organizing resources, empty dishwasher, fridge)

    • Assisting in maintaining church records (digital and physical files, filing, shredding)

    • Assisting in maintaining resources in church foyer

Integration

First impression matters! The Integration Team spearheads our efforts in becoming a welcoming place for both regular and new Sunday attendees.

Lead: Pastor Melad Markos

    • Has a warm, friendly, and approachable demeanour

    • Available on Sundays (at least once a month)

    • Arrive 30min. before service to greet and assist drivers to a parking space

    • Welcome and guide new visitors to the designated parking areas for “Newcomers”

    • Keep track of the parking lot fullness and redirect overflow traffics accordingly

    • Work as part of a cohesive team, supporting fellow volunteers in the ministry

    • Pray for those you welcome, asking for God’s blessing on their experience at church

  • If you are someone who:

    • Available on Sundays (at least once a month)

    • Arrive 15 minutes before service to greet attendees as they are seated around you

    • If they are new to our worship services, welcome them warmly and invite them to fill out a Welcome Sheet in the pocket on the chair or at the Connect Table in the lobby after the service

    • Introduce a new attendee to the person seated beside them

    • Work as part of a cohesive team, supporting fellow volunteers in the ministry

    • Pray for those you welcome, asking for God’s blessing on their experience at church

    • Engage with the congregation, ensuring everyone feels valued and seen

    • Work as part of a cohesive team, supporting fellow volunteers in the ministry

    • Helping with our monthly muffin mingle

    • Pray for those you welcome, asking for God’s blessing on their experience at church

Facilities

Leads: David Boerger (Facilities) ; Solange Werners (Rentals)

Kitchen

    • Complete your kitchen certification at RAC 

    • Serving in the kitchen during various events in the church building

    • Monitor inventory and replenish supplies 

    • Learn, abide, and enforce all kitchen rules

    • Must be Kitchen certified (completed Food Handler Course)

    Current Opportunities:

    • Soul Care Class: Prepare coffee and snacks for 8 Sundays between September 24th to January 25th, from 11:00–11:40am

    • Rex Youth: Plan, organize, and manage snack/food for Rex Youth Friday Nights (Looking for 1-2 people each Friday evening)
